BLACK RABBIT


This is a pattern for a rabbit that a co-worker had requested for me to make for her.  This is the second rabbit that I have made for her.  The other rabbit had a more elongated body than this one.  This is an adaptation of that pattern that I posted earlier.  I hope people like it.

MATERIALS:
Bulky weight yarn:  Body color – I used black (Yarn Bee Tender Touch Shadow)
G crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfill
Tapestry needle
12 mm Brown safety eyes

BODY:
Rd 1: With body color, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rd 4: (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Rd 6: (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (36)

BEGIN STUFFING BODY FIRMLY AS THIS POINT.  CONTINUE STUFFING FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 31: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) twice, (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) twice.  (10)
Rd 32: sc2tog around.  (5)
Finish off.  Add any stuffing needed to firmly achieve desired shape.  Weave in ends.

HEAD:

ATTACH SAFETY EYES AT THIS POINT BETWEEN RDS 12 AND 13 WITH 2 INCHES BETWEEN THEM.
Rd 20: (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog) twice, (sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog) 5 times.  (28)
Rd 21: (sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog) around.  (24)
Rd 22: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
BEGIN STUFFING HEAD FIRMLY AT THIS POINT.  CONTINUE STUFFING FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 23: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 24: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Firmly stuff HEAD.  Sew HEAD to BODY.

FRONT LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With body color, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (14)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around.  (14)
Rd 5: sc in next 5 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 5 sc.  (12)
Rd 6: sc in next 4 sc, (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 4 sc.  (10)
Rd 7: sc in each sc around.  (10)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff FRONT LEGS firmly.  Sew FRONT LEGS to BODY.

HIND LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With body color, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rds 3-14: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 15: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff HIND LEGS firmly.  Use tail to close end of HIND LEGS by weaving end through Rd 15 sts and pulling tightly and securing.  Sew HIND LEGS to BODY.

EARS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With body color, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Rd 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around.  (8)
Rd 4: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) around.  (10)
Rd 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc) around.  (12)
Rd 6: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc) around.  (14)
Rd 7: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc) around.  (16)
Rds 8-10: sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 11: sc2tog, sc in next 14 sc.  (15)
Rd 12: sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog, sc in next 6 sc.  (13)

Finish off leaving a long tail.  DO NOT STUFF.  But fold bottom of ears in half lengthwise before you sew them on head of BODY.

TAIL:
Wrap yarn around three fingers around 20 times then remove from your fingers and wrap more yarn very tightly round the center of this hank of yarn (as if you were making a figure of 8), and tie off tightly.  Sew TAIL to BODY.
