GOLEM

This is the next in a very long list of requests from a Pokemon-obsessed Etsy customer that I have.  Golem reminds me a lot of a soccer ball with arms, legs, and a head.  This pattern includes the color for both Golem and Shiny Golem.

MATERIALS:
Worsted Weight Yarn (Shiny colors are in parenthesis):  Medium thyme (Warm brown), dark thyme (café latte), warm brown (buff), pink, burgundy, white, and red
E crochet hook
Polyester Fiberfil
Tapestry needle

BODY:
HEXAGONS (MAKE 20)
Rd 1: With medium thyme, 6 sc in magic ring.  (6)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)  Change to dark thyme.
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc) around.  (30)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
PENTAGONS (MAKE 12):
Rd 1: With medium thyme, 5 sc in magic ring.  (5)
Rd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.  (10)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (15)  Change to dark thyme.
Rd 3: (sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc) around.  (25)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
ASSEMBLY:
Stitch Hexagons and Pentagons together in classic soccer ball pattern.  Stuff BODY firmly before closing.

LEGS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With warm brown, ch 8, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in next ch working around ch, working in free loops of foundation ch, sc in next 6 ch.  (18)
Rd 2: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (22)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, sc in next 6 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc.  (29)
Rd 4: working in back loops only, sc in each sc around.  (29)
Rd 5: sc in each sc around.  (29)
Rd 6: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) twice, sc in next 7 sc, sc3tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc3tog, sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog.  (22)
Rd 7: (sc2tog) twice, sc in next 5 sc, (sc2tog) 4 times, sc in next 5 sc.  (16)
Rd 8: sc in each sc around.  (16)
Rd 9: (sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rds 10-14: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff LEGS firmly.  Sew LEGS to BODY.

TOENAILS (MAKE 10):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around.  (4)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Glue TOENAILS to LEGS.

ARMS (MAKE 2):
THUMBS (MAKE 2):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc changing to warm brown.  (4)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.
FINGERS (MAKE 4):
Rd 1: With white, ch 2, 4 sc in second ch from hook working around ch.  (4)
Rd 2: sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc changing to warm brown.  (4)
Rd 3: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (6)
Rd 4: sc in each sc around.  (6)
Finish off in first and third FINGERS.  DO NOT finish off in second and fourth FINGERS.
HANDS AND ARMS (MAKE 2):
Rd 5: sc in next 3 sc on second FINGER, sc in each sc on first FINGER, sc in next 3 sc on second FINGER.  (12)
Rd 6: sc in each sc around.  (12)
Rd 7: sc in each sc on THUMB, sc in each sc around on HAND.  (18)
Rds 8-9: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 10: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Rd 11: (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around.  (18)
Rds 12-21: sc in each sc around.  (18)
Rd 22: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Stuff ARMS firmly.  Sew ARMS to BODY.

HEAD:
MOUTH (MAKE 2—1 IN BURGUNDY, 1 IN MAGENTA):
Rw 1: Ch 6, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each of free loops of foundation 4 ch.  (10)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (14)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (18)
Finish off.

LOWER JAW:
Rw 1: With warm brown, ch 6, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each of free loops of foundation 4 ch.  (10)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (14)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (18)
Rws 4-5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (22)
Rw 6: Holding magenta MOUTH and LOWER JAW together and working through both thicknesses, ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (22)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Embroider teeth on LOWER JAW using white.

UPPER JAW:
Rw 1: With warm brown, ch 6, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each of free loops of foundation 4 ch.  (10)
Rw 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc.  (14)
Rw 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc.  (18)
Rws 4-6: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (22)
Rw 7: Holding magenta MOUTH and LOWER JAW together and working through both thicknesses, ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.  (22)
Finish off.  Weave in ends.  Sew MOUTH together.

BACK OF HEAD:
Rd 1: With warm brown, work 11 sc evenly around the edge of LOWER JAW, work 13 sc evenly around the edge of UPPER JAW.  (24)
Rds 2-4: sc in each sc around.  (24)
Rd 5: (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog) around.  (18)
Rd 6: (sc in next sc, sc2tog) around.  (12)
BEGIN STUFFING HEAD FIRMLY.  CONTINUE STUFFING HEAD FIRMLY AS YOU GO ALONG.
Rd 7: sc2tog around.  (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail.  Weave tail through sc of Rd 8, pull tightly and secure.  Sew HEAD to BODY.

EYES AND HEAD MARKINGS:
Embroider EYES on GOLEM.  Embroider HEAD MARKINGS on GOLEM.
